Personalized, Structured, and Focused on Results

Academic success looks different for every student. Our expert tutors are here to help — no matter where your student starts or what their goals are.

Diagnostic Exam

The Diagnostic pinpoints test taking strengths and highlights areas with the greatest potential for improvement. This analysis becomes the roadmap for success, allowing us to build a customized plan that maximizes your child's scores and reduces test taking anxiety.

Online and In-Person

Sessions available in-center at Newton or Lexington, fully online, or hybrid. All three formats use the same certified tutors and diagnostic curriculum.

We Tutor All Ages

From middle school students preparing for the SSAT to high schoolers targeting the Ivy League — our programs are built to meet each student exactly where they are.

Success Takes More Than Studying — It Takes the Right Approach.

The SAT and ACT reward specific strategies, not just effort. Without a targeted plan, scores plateau and families feel stuck. Here's where most students get held back:

Test Anxiety That Kills Scores

Your student knows the material but freezes on exam day. Our diagnostic identifies anxiety triggers and our tutors build the mental routines that keep scores steady under pressure.

Not Sure: SAT or ACT?

The wrong test choice can cost hundreds of points. Our SAT vs. ACT Diagnostic objectively identifies which exam plays to your student's strengths before they invest months in prep.

A Tutor That Doesn't Click

Generic classes leave students behind. Our Academic Directors personally match every student to a tutor based on personality, learning style, and the specific skills that need work.

Scores That Plateau

Stuck at 1350 or 29? Students plateau when they practice without direction. Our ongoing diagnostic tracking re-maps the plan as weaknesses shift so progress never stalls.

A Customized Path to Your Highest Score

We don't hand students a book and a schedule. Every Livius engagement is built around your student's specific gaps, timeline, and goals.

Common Questions from Families

These are the questions our Academic Directors hear most often during free consultations.

Talk to an Advisor
Most Boston-area students begin prep in fall of junior year, targeting the March or May SAT. Sophomores who start early have more flexibility — they can retake if needed and keep senior year clear for applications. An Academic Director can review your student's current scores and timeline and recommend the right start date.
It depends on the score gap and test date. Students aiming for a 100-point improvement typically need 10–15 sessions. Targeting 200+ points or a 1500+ score generally means 20+ sessions with practice tests. Your Academic Director will give a realistic projection after the diagnostic exam.
The exams test similar skills but with different structures. The ACT is faster-paced with a science reasoning section. The SAT's math is more concept-heavy. Many students perform meaningfully better on one — which is why we start with our SAT vs. ACT Diagnostic before committing to any prep path.
We offer in-center sessions at our Newton and Lexington locations, fully online sessions, and hybrid arrangements. All three formats use the same certified tutors, the same curriculum, and the same diagnostic process.
Group classes run a fixed curriculum for the average student — they can't adapt to what your student specifically needs. Our 1-on-1 model means the tutor adjusts every session based on where your student is losing points. Students who didn't improve in group settings typically see strong gains with a personalized program.
