Varun Kulkarni is an Aerospace and Mechanical Engineer with a master’s degree in aerospace engineering (specializing in rocket propulsion) from Indian Institute of Science and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN). He followed his PhD with Postdoctoral research stints at Harvard University, University of Illinois at Chicago and The George Washington University. He specializes in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, having taught and mentored students in these areas for over 10 years. In the past he has also taught at a university/college level and at various schools in the Boston Public School system. Varun’s pedagogy focuses on helping students build strong foundations so that problem-solving comes naturally and becomes an enjoyable activity. His teaching is partly inquiry-based and incorporates relatable examples from students’ everyday lives and favorite activities to connect the study material to real-world applications. Additionally, as an instructor, he is patient with his students and perseveres diligently until they accomplish their academic goals.
