Carol Wan is a college counselor who began her career as an ESL teacher in Hong Kong through the Princeton-in-Asia teaching fellowship. During a stint in an after school program in Boston, she found herself counseling students on their college essays at the eleventh hour! Seeing a great need for college programming for first generation students, Ms. Wan spearheaded the organization’s first college access program, including workshops, college visits, essay mentoring, and financial aid support. She encourages her students to develop personal passions into professional careers. Ms. Wan enjoys teaching students how to advocate for themselves when communicating with teachers and college admissions officers. She is a graduate of Tufts University and Teachers College, Columbia University. Currently, she works with Livius as a college counselor at the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School. She assists all 12th graders with their college applications and provides college awareness lessons to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders.
