The College Board announced on the last day of February that the AP Physics courses and exams will undergo major revisions starting in the 2024-25 school year. These AP Exam Updates in 2024 will  include changes to the content of the course and the structure of the exams. The recent announcement makes no mention of Bluebook, the app in which students take the Digital SAT beginning March 2024.

What is the Bluebook App?

The Bluebook app was released in early 2023 to help students and educators prepare for the October 2023 PSAT and March 2024 SAT. At the time, there was an option to select Advanced Placement (AP) programs in the practice question tool, but selecting that option only led to an error message. Since then, the College Board announced that nine AP exams will be administered through the Bluebook app beginning in the 2023-2024 school year.

Digital AP Exams

The College Board explored digital administration of several AP exams in May of 2020, primarily due to the school closures and shift to remote learning in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. This attempt was fraught with technical glitches, leading to a multitude of students taking the exams over later in 2020. The College Board returned to paper-based exams the following year.

It now appears that the College Board is rolling out digital exams for AP courses again, starting with the nine exams already announced. It is likely that more exams will be added to Bluebook over the next few years, joining the PSAT, SAT, and current digital AP exams.

Upcoming 2024 AP Exam Updates

The College Board has made regular revisions to AP exams over the years, but it seems likely that more courses and exams will see major revisions like the upcoming changes to the AP Physics courses and exams scheduled for the 2024-25 school year.
