Kaila Kuban, Ph.D., is a cultural anthropologist, executive function specialist, and college counselor. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, Kaila attended graduate school at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she earned a doctorate in anthropology, specializing in the American adolescent. Kaila has worked with teenagers for two decades, teaching at the college level at UMass and Greenfield Community College, and with high school students through Upward Bound and Engaging Minds. She enjoys working with student-artists and student-athletes and has experience with teens from diverse cultural backgrounds, across the gender & sexuality spectrum, and those with learning differences, especially ADHD. Kaila was the Director of Classes for the second-largest school for the comedic arts in New York City, and has produced comedy specials for Adult Swim, National Geographic, and Sundance TV.

Kaila enjoys working with students on everything from particular assignments (especially in English and History), to executive function areas (such as time management and organization). She is particularly adept at helping students hone their critical thinking, analytic, and academic reading and writing skills. As a college counselor Kaila helps students identify the programs that are the best fit for them, and construct applications and essays that help them stand out. Kaila enjoys hiking (with her pup), swimming, reading and writing, and staying up to date on pop culture. Kaila understands the high expectations placed on students and brings her signature mix of academic rigor, compassion, and humor to every student meeting.
