Julia Poroshina has always been drawn to creativity and learning. She spent nine years in music school, dedicating seven to the violin and two to the drums, earning a diploma with honors in the last one. At the same time, she developed a love for poetry – writing, performing, and competing from an early age. Her passion for language, especially English, grew alongside her artistic interests, shaping her future path.
She went on to study Event management and Social organizing at the College of Art and Culture in Yekaterinburg, graduating with honors. Later, she earned a degree in Applied Linguistics from the State Pedagogical University, where she focused on cross-cultural communication in English.
Julia’s career has been as diverse as her interests. She has worked as an English lead teacher, curriculum developer, tutor, event organizer, volunteer for people with diverse abilities, and mentor. She created her own English program for Russian students, which she has been successfully teaching for the past six years. Whether managing classrooms leading workshops, or planning events, she is trying to bring creativity and enthusiasm.
Moving to the U.S. in 2022 was a challenge – adapting to a new culture and dealing with homesickness wasn’t easy. But Julia has always believed in making the best of every situation. She continues to find ways to grow, whether through performing improv, participating and winning poetry competitions (something she has been doing since 2007), publishing her poetry book, organizing cultural events, or trying new activities like snowboarding and crafting.
At her core, Julia is driven by curiosity and determination. She believes in pushing herself, learning new things, and not letting fear hold her back. The mindset has helped her achieve what she has so far – and she’s always looking for what’s next.
