SAT Test Prep Near Me

Livius Prep was founded to empower each student to take control of his or her academic achievement. Since 1984, we have helped thousands of students improve their SAT or ACT scores. More than 1,000 of them have achieved perfect scores, and at least 2,000 Livius Prep students have been accepted to Ivy League schools.

We carefully select the most talented and experienced subject matter experts to provide each student with comprehensive, individualized instruction. We ensure that our tutors are not only experts in their field, with a Master’s degree or higher, but also skilled at connecting with students, understanding their individual needs and learning styles, and providing a customized approach.

SAT Evidence-Based Reading

The SAT Reading Test has four single passages and one set of paired passages. Each passage or pair is 500–750 words in length and is accompanied by 10 to 11 multiple-choice questions, for a total of 52 questions. Students have 65 minutes to finish this section of the test.

To prepare for this first and longest section of the SAT, we suggest working to speed up your reading to ensure that you’ll be able to balance your time between the five sections and get to all 52 questions before time runs out. Brush up on your vocabulary and your ability to differentiate the meaning of words based on context clues. And make sure you know how to read charts, graphs and tables.

SAT Writing & Language

The SAT Writing and Language section is designed to test your knowledge of the written word. Students will be asked 44 multiple-choice questions and have 35 minutes to complete this second section of the test.

To prepare for the SAT Writing and Language section, study the most common grammar, usage and punctuation rules. In addition to reading literature, nonfiction essays and newspaper articles can be great sources for practice.

SAT Math

The SAT Math exam is designed to test your reasoning skills, but the way the questions are written can be confusing. Your Livius Prep tutor will teach you how to approach the questions methodically so that you can concentrate on what you are being asked to do.

There are 58 multiple-choice questions (divided into a 20-question No-Calculator section and a 38-question Calculator-allowed section). Students have 25 minutes to complete the No-Calculator section and 55 minutes for the Calculator-allowed section, for a total of 80 minutes.
