What are AP Courses & Exams?
The AP, or Advanced Placement, courses you take in high school are designed to teach you skills that will help you in college classes. They are a great way to challenge yourself academically and show colleges that you are serious about your education.
Taking AP courses and passing the exams will strengthen your college applications because they are a sign that you are ready for college-level work.
Some colleges and universities give credit for AP classes, making it possible for you to graduate early. Other schools use your test scores to help place you in higher-level classes when you start college. If you are interested in a specific college’s AP policy, you can find the information you need at the College Board website.
